Our Summit: A Community Visioning Project
The future of Summit County is up to you! Become an active participant in this visioning process and help to ensure affordable housing is part…
Mutual Self-Help Housing, sponsored by MCHT and USDA Rural Development, makes housing affordable through “sweat equity." Six to 12 families work together a minimum of 30 hours weekly per family under the guidance of a construction supervisor. The supervisor teaches the necessary skills to build the home.
The labor acts as the down payment and reduces the price of the home. There is additional reduced interest rate assistance for qualified families that keeps the monthly house payment affordable. Applicants cannot currently own a home and must meet loan qualifications.
